History of the Young People’s Board – Our Hearings, Our Voice

A multi-agency planning group whose membership includes the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA), Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS), CELCIS, Young Scot, Quarriers, Includem, Who Cares? Scotland and Barnardo’s have been working together since 2015 to develop a board of children and young people for the Children’s Hearings System.

This is being led by SCRA and Children’s Hearing Scotland, and is supported by the Scottish Government and the Children’s Hearing Improvement Partnership. The creation of the Our Hearings, Our Voice (OHOV) Board is in its early stages and we are currently recruiting the small team who will support the work.

The idea for a board in Scotland came from a similar idea in England. CAFCASS (the Children and Families Court Advisory Service) has a Family Justice Young People’s Board to help the organisation remain focused on children and young people.
