Young people from across Scotland came together on Saturday for the Let’s Get Started event.

This was the first event for young board members following the Our Hearings, Our Voice recruitment campaign.

The event, which was held in The Lighthouse in Glasgow, was the first time the young board members had come together as a group.

The aim of the day was for the young people to find out more about Our Hearings, Our Voice, to get to know each other and to have some fun!

The day included a number of team building challenges and young people had the chance to get creative looking at ideas for a logo/brand.

Jacqui Dunbar, Development Worker for Our Hearings, Our Voice, said: “Thanks to all the young people and their trusted adults who travelled to the event.

“I hope everyone enjoyed it and found it worthwhile. There was certainly a fantastic buzz in the room.

“We are looking forward to working with the board members and I know we can make a real difference for other children and young people in the Hearings System.”

The aim of Our Hearings, Our Voice is to provide children and young people with experience of the Hearings System the opportunity to have a decision making role. The focus will be to help create shared understanding, positive change and improvement in the Hearings System through young people’s lived experiences.

The board will have three key functions:

  • To identify and recommend improvements across the system (via project work/commissions).
  • To scrutinise and support the work of partners across the Children’s Hearings System.
  • To hold the Children’s Hearings System to account.
